This is my band's first performance. We started in May last year. I am the bassist, Tracy is the singer, Will is the guitarist, and Trae is the drummer. We are all friends so it was not to hard to create this band. One day at lunch a week before school was over Trae came to Will and I and said "I have an idea". Being the curious 8th graders we were, we eagerly awaited his explanation. He said " On the last day of school we should play some music as people walk out. We can ask the principal and in the front and play cool rock music". We were in but we needed a singer. At that moment I thought of Tracy, because she is practically a walking Ipod of rock music from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. So when we asked her she responded with "Hell yah I'm in!" We were really excited but of course we would need to ask our parents and the principal, so that night we all went home and asked our parents and all of us had very supporting parents. Next step was to ask the principal. So we went to her and since I'm the speaker I said to her " We were wondering if on the last day of school you would let the 4 of us leave the 8th grade party a little early and we would go out front and have a small band performance as kids got out of school. We want to play some rock music and we promise it will be clean and we will have all our own equipment." Without so much as blinking an eye she said " That's sounds like a fantastic idea and as long as you guys keep the lyrics clean its fine with me."We were beyond ecstatic.. Our set list was: Schools out by Alice Cooper, Highway to Hell by ACDC, Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. There were a few hiccups that day but it was expected. I had to borrow a bass guitar from the school's band teacher but he was super chill about it. Trae's dad drove all of our equipment over and I had to run to my house quickly to get an extension cord. Besides that it went pretty smoothly and we had amps, instruments, microphones, and even groupies just like a real band. As people were dismissed from school and began to walk out they saw us and we started to gather a crowd and even teachers were coming out to listen to us. It was so much fun and if you are looking to start a band it honestly is not that hard and it is probably one of my favorite memories from middle school.
